Another SEC home game, another dominate performance inside Coleman Coliseum as Alabama squared off with conference foe Georgia and from the opening whistle it was all Bama.
"We were mentally ready to go, after we lost at Tennessee, we came out of the gates starting group got us out to a great start and pushed the lead out", said Alabama Head Coach Nate Oats.
"The game didn't go our way Wednesday, and we just locked in for practice the last two days and got after it and the results showed", said Alabama guard Mark Sears.
We say the word depth an awful lot when it comes to this Alabama team. Names like Griffen, Burnett, Quinerly, it's an embarrassment of riches to have come off the bench, but Saturday night, another depth piece stepped up and stole the show as the always energetic Nick Pringle turned in a career night.
"Ya know, energy, like, I'm just an energy guy I'm not really looking to score, I'm looking to defend, rebound the ball, do the things that don't show up on the stat sheet. I mean, the hardhat, that's what I'm looking for I mean when you play hard and do blue collar things, ya know points are going to come your way", said Pringle.
What hasn’t been said yet about freshman phenom Brandon miller? As he continues to be one of the most consistent and efficient scorers in the country every single night.
"Buckets in transition, he gets to the offensive boards and gets some buckets, he gets fouled, and his free throw percentage is high. He's got all kinds of different ways to score it and I think you can try to take him out, you can do a really good job on him, and he still ends up with 14, 15, 16 points", said Oats.
Brandon Miller led five UA players in double figures, scoring 21 points to record his 10th 20-point game of the year. In the first half, Miller became the fastest player to 500 points in program history, joining Collin Sexton and James “Hollywood” Robinson as the only three freshmen to reach the mark.
"I was just informed that Brandon (Miller) is the third freshman Alabama history to score 500 points and he got there faster than James Robinson and Collin Sexton, both who are two pretty good players. We had some history made tonight", said Oats.
Alabama will travel to Columbia, S.C., to face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Feb. 22 at Colonial Life Arena. The game will tipoff at 8 p.m. CT and air live on ESPN2.
