The Birmingham Stallions are off to a 2-0 start after mashing the Memphis Showboats, 42-2, Saturday night at Protective Stadium.

The Stallions, playing without quarterback J'Mar Smith, who was out with an injury to his non-throwing hand, got a strong performance from Alex McGough and another dominating defensive effort to get it done.

McGough was 21-of-28 for 301 yards and four touchdowns as the Stallions jumped out to a 35-0 lead.

Jace Sternberger had five catches for 127 yards and a touchdown, while three other Stallions caught TD passes as well; Davion Davis, Thaddeus Moss and Myron Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Zaquandre White and CJ Marable combined for 140 yards rushing on 24 carries. White scored two touchdowns on the ground.

The Stallions outgained Memphis 463-183.

The Stallions are back in action Saturday, April 29 when they host the New Orleans Breakers. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
