The Cold Springs girls and the Aliceville boys basketball teams will both have opportunities to take home state championship trophies Friday at Legacy Arena.
Cold Springs, the number one-ranked team in 2A Girls, defeated Lanett 44-37. The 3-point shot was key for the Eagles, who hit 6-of-11 from long range in the second half. Maci Brown led the Eagles with 18 points with Ella Dickerson finishing with 14. Both Brown and Dickerson were 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Cold Springs will play Mars Hill Bible Friday morning at 9 for the 2A State Title.

The Aliceville Yellow Jackets also used a strong second half to beat Sand Rock 73-63 to advance to the 2A Title game in the boys bracket. Tyquan Simon led Aliceville with 18 points, including 8-of-10 at the line, and Jatavius Colvin made 10-of-16 free throws to finish with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Tyjarian Williams added 17 points and eight rebounds.
Sand Rock’s Jacob St. Clair led all scorers with 33 points, including sinking 11of-14 at the foul liner, and Kaden Justice added 24 points and nine rebounds. Justice made five 3-pointers for the Wildcats.
Aliceville will play St. Luke's for the 2A title Friday at 10:45 am at Legacy Arena.
