CLEARFIELD, Utah (KUTV) — A 38-year-old Utah man died after officials said he was pinned by a forklift while at work.
First responders were dispatched to the sceneat Americold in Clearfield just before 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, they reported finding a bleeding manpinned between a forklift and some freezer shelves with co-workers attending to him.
Officials worked quickly to free the man and render medical aid at the scene before he was transported to the hospital. They said he was taken via ambulance toHoly Cross Hospital in Layton.
According to a news release, the mansuffered significant trauma to lower extremities and died a short time after arriving at the hospital.
Officials said that because this was aworkplace incident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified.
"The incident is still being investigated, but initial information suggests this was a tragic accident," they said.
The man's identity was not initially released out of respect for his family.
