Authorities in Maine said a man entered a middle school, went into the girl’s bathroom, and offered a student hypodermic needles.

Police said the suspicious man, later identified as 43-year-old Jacob Horwitch, of Portland, walked into King Middle School on Monday around 8:50 a.m. EDT.

According to police, Horwitch then went into the girl’s bathroom, where he offered a female student hypodermic needles

The suspect had left the school by the time police arrived.

Police said they found Horwitch near the entrance of Deering Oaks Park.

Horwitch was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, violation of privacy, and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

It's not immediately clear how the suspect was able to enter the school.

WGME reached out to Portland Public Schools for comment and is waiting to hear back.
