MOSCOW, Idaho (KLEW) — Bryan Kohberger has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly killing four University of Idaho students last fall.
Kohberger was a graduate student studying criminology at Washington State University, about 10 miles from Moscow, Idaho, where the killings occurred.
He was arrested weeks later at his parents' home in Pennsylvania. Police identified Kohberger as a suspect through DNA.
Authorities didn’t offer a motive for the killings when Kohberger was arrested.
The bodies of the University of Idaho students – Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin – were found in a rental home across the street from their campus. They had been stabbed to death.
Kohberger has been indicted on all five original charges, as confirmed by the Latah County clerk. He’s scheduled for arraignment Monday.
Kohberger faces four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary.
A preliminary hearing that was scheduled for next week has been canceled in light of the indictment. If Kohberger pleads not guilty, the court will set the case for trial.
The slain students have been awarded posthumous degrees from the University of Idaho.
