A man in Kansas who was wearing a beer can costume has been arrested for allegedly drunk driving and the local sheriff's office couldn't help but share the news on social media.

A career in law enforcement is exciting, and you get to experience something new every day. Sometimes you see things you can’t believe!" the Franklin County Sheriff's Office began in its Facebook post.

According to authorities, deputies were notified about a possible drunk driver traveling on their nearbyInterstate 35 last Friday. Those deputies were able to locate the vehicle and the suspected drunk driver and pulled him over.

Deputies were "surprised" when the man stepped out of his vehicle and was revealed to be wearing a Bud Light beer can costume. The sheriff's office shared a photo of the man in the costume but censored his face.

Yes, you read that correctly," the sheriff's office said after noting the beer can costume.

According to the sheriff's office, the driver was placed under arrest for "driving under the influence of alcohol" which is commonly called a "DUI."

The driver was then taken tothe Franklin County Jail, according to authorities.

Is that considered an open container?" asked one Facebook user in reply to the sheriff's office's post.
Is it really under the influence if he IS the influencer?" another reply asked.
Thank you guys for the laugh and for getting him off the street!" yet another reply to the Facebook post said.

In Kansas, a person who is convicted of drunk driving faces 48 hours of mandatory imprisonment or 100 hours of community service and will be fined $500-$1,000 plus court costs if it's that person's first DUI, according to the Department of Transportation.

The convicted first-time drunk driver will also have to complete a court-ordered alcohol and drug safety action education program and/ or treatment program at their expense.

Punishments harshly increase if the convicted drunk driver is a repeat offender. Those who are convicted of their second DUI will receive 90 days to one-year imprisonment and will be fined $1,000-$1,500 plus court costs.

Those convicted of a second DUI will also have their license suspended for a year and will have to equip their vehicles with an "ignition interlock device" that prevents a vehicle's operation if a driver is intoxicated.

Those convicted of their third DUI will be charged with a felony offense, along with all the punishments of the second DUI conviction. Four-time DUI convicts will receive all of the aforementioned punishments but will then also be placed in the custody ofthe Secretary of the Kansas Department of Corrections for a one-year period of post-release supervision.

Finally, if a person is convicted of their fifth DUI, their driving privileges will be permanently revoked along with, again, all the aforementioned punishments received from the previous convictions.

The sheriff's office reminded its Facebook followers that, "as always, suspects are innocent until proven guilty."
