WASHINGTON (TND) — Violence at the border is at an all-time high as a local police officer and one of his commanders were assassinated in a Mexican border state.
This shows the sheer brutality of Mexican cartels and the imminent danger our law enforcement faces every minute at our southern border.
Former head of Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan joined The National Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat Tuesday morning to discuss the issue.
“The cartels pose an equal threat to our country as terrorist organizations,” he said. “They operate similar and akin to terrorist organizations.”
The Mexican cartel fired more than 100 rounds into the officer's vehicle near the border.
“We have to fundamentally shift and we have to go after the cartels with the same whole of government approach commitment, resources and tenacity that we do terrorist organizations to defeat them,” he said. “Until we do that, our nation will truly never have a secure and safe border.”
