The Childersburg Fire and Rescue Department posted to Facebook at 6:14 p.m., alerting the public of the crash and asking for people to avoid the area if possible. Local crews along with state and federal officials are expected to be on the scene for an extended period of time.
ALEA said the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and is responding to the scene. State troopers along with the Talladega County Sheriff's Office assisted in securing the scene.
The closest airfield to that location is the Sylacauga Municipal Airport, roughly five miles from Meadow Farm Lane. It is unclear whether the aircraft had any connection to that airport.
