HELENA, Ala. (WBMA) — A train derailed Wednesday night near County Road 93 in Shelby County.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, no injuries have been reported.
A spokesperson for Norfolk Southern says a single set of wheels on a single car left the rails. The car remained upright.
"Norfolk Southern is using an access road in the 1200 blk of Hwy 93 to unload equipment," the department stated in a social media post. "Other than the road blockage as they unload equipment, there should be no threat or hazard to anyone in the area."
There was heavy machinery on site along with a heavy police presence. Several roads were closed in the area.
The line is called the 3-B North District line which is owned by Norfolk Southern.
