Woman killed, 5-year-old injured, in crash on Alabama 157 in Cullman County

CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Cullman woman Tuesday and injured two others.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said 47-year-old Chessi R. Waddell was fatally injured when the 2003 Toyota Corolla she was driving was struck by a 2006 Mazda MPV.

A 5-year-old passenger in Wadell's Toyota was also injured and transported by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. ALEA said Waddell was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda was injured and taken to UAB Hospital for treatment.

The crash happened on Alabama 157 near Cullman County 1246, about two miles east of Moulton.

ALEA said its Highway Patrol Division will continue to investigate.
