CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — Two people are dead and two others were injured after a single-vehicle crash near Piedmont in Cherokee County Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Cherokee County 175 near Cherokee County 176, about five miles north of Piedmont.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said 21-year-oldBrittney D. Hayes, of Piedmont, and an 18-year-old, of Vidalia Georgia, were fatally injured when the 2003 Ford Explorer they were passengers in, left the roadway, struck a mound of dirt and overturned.
ALEA said Hayes and the teen were not using seat belts at the time of crash and were both ejected from the vehicle. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The 20-year-old driver and another 22-year-old passenger were transported to Regional Medical Center Hospital (RMC) for treatment.
ALEA said troopers with its Highway Patrol Division will continue to investigate.
