'Backstreet Boy' Nick Carter opens up about pandemic life, new music

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — He just released the first single off his new record, finding the time during the pandemic to get a little creative on his own.

Nick Carter, a member of the Backstreet Boys, says he’s ready for everything 2021 will bring. He sat down with Heather Mills to talk about his passion for Las Vegas, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, and what’s ahead for him as an artist.

He's a familiar face on the Las Vegas Strip and the world stage. But Nick Carter says his favorite role right now is daddy.

"The stay-at-home dad life right now has really been my joy," he said.

Carter calls Las Vegas home and says the pandemic really helped shift his focus.

"It really puts things into perspective of how fortunate we all are," he explained.

He began working with local non-profit Cure 4 The Kids Foundation during the Backstreet Boys residency. Now, he said, more than ever, it’s vital to give what you can.

"It's our duty as people to find a way to give back."

As a father, he said he understands that even more than ever.

"Being back home and being in quarantine like everyone else you sit and think a lot about life and the things that are important to you."

Quarantine life has also presented some new possibilities.

"With this time that we have, I can experiment and try some things," Carter said.

Working out of a studio here in Las Vegas, Carter is ready to release his fourth solo album. He said this one really means something special: “This is going to be the pinnacle for me.”

With high hopes for 2021, Carter said he’s excited about the future, as a dad, solo artist and philanthropist.

"I am absolutely in love with Las Vegas, Nevada."

As for what lies ahead for the Backstreet Boys, Carter won’t rule anything out. He said they’re going to finish their world tour that was cut short due to the pandemic and then, perhaps, a return to the stage in the city he now calls home.

"I really do believe the Backstreet Boys will be back in Las Vegas with a really great residency that will be unlike anything else."
